Well Australia's top metal band has come back from the dead to release another album after breaking up a few years ago. Unfortunately it is nowhere near the quality of their self titled debut. It's just too thrashy, and I think they use a drum machine, because in the cover inlay no human drummer is specified, and the drums just sound very synthetic. I congratulate the band on getting back together and making another album, but I think they could have taken a bit more time with their song structures. The album has seven songs, totalling about 40 minutes, and only in the final song does the band really hit some songwriting creativity. In this case acoustic guitar passages are used to do this. If it weren't for this song the album would be quite boring. I think the vocals have improved since self-titled, with even more variation and power, but they are the only improvement. The rest of their music has gone downhill. It seems that a problem for the band was the loss of two band members, so now Abramelin is only a two man band in the studio. They now lack some songwriting ability. Still, I'm glad I own this.
