The Oath Of Black Blood was the first true Black Metal album to assualt my ears and pollute my spirit. Before hearing this album I had only read a few things on certain bands within the Black Metal scene and admit to not really knowing too much about what Black Metal was really all about. I picked up this album based entirely on the cover and songtitles, knowing nothing about Beherit whatsoever, thinking that with such evil songtitles and cover artwork the music must be just as blasphemous. Well...it turned out to be blasphemy alright, but not just to The Holy One above, but to all music in general. In fact, this cannot even be considered music, as each song is nothing but lightning speed noise. Underneath thie absolute worst sound to ever be featured on an album and the terrible and sloppy playing, you can hear some decent ideas and in certain points of the album the desired evil atmosphere does make its impact. Now, I am aware that some people hail this album as a cult Black Metal classic, but I hold The Oath Of Black Blood to be the absolute worst and most unlistenable album that I have ever heard in all of music. I say this while being fully aware of what Beherit intended with this recording, but it just comes off more comical than scary or evil.
