Dreamsfear - Prelude To Destiny

I recieved this demo from Dreamsfear a while ago(sorry to the guys of Dreamsfear, I know it took a while to get this review up), not really expecting what to hear. Lemme tell ya, WOW. After a couple more listens after the preliminary, I got fuckin' hooked.

The vocals are some great clean vocals. They are somewhat similar to those of Primordial. The music itself, well, it's hard for me to classify actually. The first song on this cd is the most thrashy out of the four total tracks. Slow, melodic, but somewhat thrashy at times nonetheless. The best part is, that all four tracks are long(averaging about 7 minutes apiece), but they never get boring at all. Anyway, the first track, "Ruins", is a great opener to the cd. It's very relaxing, and gets you in the groove for the other few songs. Very epic sounding IMHO. Track 2, "Bleak Horizons", damn, what to say. Another excellent track. The track is slow, melodic, doomy, somewhat depressing. Track 3, "As Darkness Falls", the shortest song(at a pleasing 6 minutes), is probably the best of the four. Heavy, and doomy lyrics as with all of the songs it seems. I'll give you an example by quoting the chorus:

"My life is passing me by
Seems like I'm living to die
I want to stand in the light
As darkness falls"

This chorus is probably the best overview of the whole cd.

Track four. Ahh, the end to such a great thing :( "Burning Bridges", a beautiful song, to say the least. A song about lamenting the past; I think it's deeper than I can comprehend at the moment. All I can ultimately say for this cd, is that if you like any kind of slow heavy metal, you should at the very least check these guys out on www.mp3.com/dreamsfear.

A killer band that ought to get popular REAL easily. I don't think you'll be dissappointed at all :)
