Dehumanized - Prophecies Foretold

Ahh this is some top New York brutal death metal. I think they display more influence of the Canadian band Cryptopsy than of NY kings Suffocation. Track five, Infinite Despair, is easily the standout song on the album, in fact it is a touch disappointing that they don't have more songs like this. The guitar solo over the top of the rhythm guitar has a similar effect as when Cryptopsy does this, really hyperblasting your mind into another state of being. The song is five minutes long and incredibly brutal, with the singer opening with a fourteen secong long grunt! Already it must be apparent to you that this cd is pretty insane. That song goes down as one of my favourite death metal songs of all time. I like the way that for much of this album, the deep, guttural vocals almost take centre stage over the guitar. Very good production for an underground label. Many parts of the album epitomise why many mainstreamers are scared of metal, so for me this would be in a list of top albums to blast while driving a car with the windows open. This drummer is absolutely insane with his blast beats and double bass. The fast guitarwork is really lifted here, showing this band as a tight, well oiled unit. Pick this up and support metal's brutal underground! My ICQ# is 35017667 if you want to hear some mp3s.
