Show me a death metal album that has this much balls, this much high-octane velocity, this much authority and command, and I'll show you The Grand Grimoire and nine reasons why many others pale in comparison to this mighty tome of aural bloodshed. There's little mercy or subtlety here. From the first second of opener "The Art Of Immolation", its apparent this band wields as much skill as ferocity, sounding like a blend of Defleshed, Necrophobic, and Slayer.Blackened death or whatever the hell you wanna call it, God Dethroned serves it up better than your current favorite.Tight and brutal beyond belief at times, its the triumphant, ringing guitar symphonics in the middle of the title-track that'll have you wondering why this band isn't considered a demigod."Under A Silver Moon" crushes with the best of them all.Just the right amount of melodicism is found throughout the album's seven proper tracks, best examples being "Into A Dark Millenium", "Under A Silver Moon", and "The Somberness Of Winter".Lyrically its all pure evil 'n' total burning hatred for Christianity, sung with forceful gravel-throated conviction."Fire", the Arthr Brown cover, fits in suprisingly well.No wonder they credited only the lyrics to Brown, because the music of the original might as well been chopped up and crammed down the originator's throat..Such uncompromising passion is the name of the game here. Those who find beauty in hateful, anti-Christian passions and musical prowess a la At The Gates, Carcass, or Morbid Angel, check this out immediately. It'll never be too late.
