I spent a long time trying to figure out what to write about this album. The only thing I could come up with was that it's good.Very fucking good. The first thing that one notices about this album is that there's a lot of variation between the songs. With a few exceptions, the songs alternate from fast old school death metal songs to slow, melodic and atmospheric death/doom songs. This kind of approach was used on Hypocrisy's previous album Abducted too, but its more obvious on The Final Chapter. Also, the vocal delivery is as varied as ever, with Peter Tägtgren now using his black screams, his death growls and his clean vocals. The lyrics, by the way, largely still have the alien abduction theme."A Coming Race" and "Inquire Within", represent the best material the group has ever recorded and really establish them among the very best death metal bands around today.I can hear you Hypocrisy fans asking,"is this new album better than "Abducted?".I'm still asking myself that same question. But since we're talking about two death metal classics here, does it really matter?
Hypocrisy - The Final Chapter 9.5/10
