Iced Earth-Something Wicked This Way Comes

I haven't heard much Iced Earth at this point, but I know what I like. They have a sound that to me is somewhat similar to Blind Guardian. I tend to jokingly call these bands' styles 'fantasy metal'. It's more appropriate for Blind Guardian than it is for Iced Earth, but as I said, I think they have a very similar sound.

The first time I listened to this album, I was completely blown away. I don't think I have ever quite felt that much emotion and power from a band since my first metal experience. They seem to have (in this album) a theme of oppression of higher powers, the wish to be free, and overcoming great obstacles. Of course, I only interpret this from what I feel while listening to the music, without readin the liner notes. The drums are not too complex as to drown out the music, nor too simple so as not to be noticed. The guitars are heavy and soothing, as odd as that may sound. They have a nice classic metal sound to them that is a joy to listen to, no matter what your mood.

I'm not too knowledgable about Iced Earth as of yet, so I won't say anymore about their style and their talent. But there is no doubt in my mind they are one of the most talented bands to come along. I would highly recommend this album to anyone. If you let your mind go and listen to the lyrics of this album, it will no doubt engulf you in an unbelievable world of music and feeling.
