Illdisposed are one of Denmark's leading death metal acts, but for some reason you fuckers don't know about them. The previous full-lengths,"Four Depressive Seasons" and "Submit" were definitely impressive albums. "There's Something Rotten...", however, beats its predecessors at all fronts and will hopefully give Illdisposed the acknowledgement that they deserve. The groovy and melodic modern death metal that these Danes deliver is fresh and catchy as ever, while the production is top notch. The band have put some Gothenburg influences into their music too, but without losing their trademark sound. And as we've come to expect from Illdisposed, there are some little bits of humor scattered around the album as well. Lead guitarist Tore Mogensen has replaced Morten Gillsted, but the style of the leads hasn't changed much as a result. They didn't suffer from this line-up change, as demonstrated by the quite impressive virtuousity in "Near The Gates". Bo Summer's vocals have undergone a refinement as well, being more varied than before. But his distinct ultra-low 'subwoofer' growls still dominate the album, of course. Overall, "There's Something Rotten..." is a lot more accessible and melodic than its predecessors and may disappoint some of the die-hard death metal purists(no hyperblasts here, guys!). Other metal fans, looking for a professional sounding modern death metal record, can't possibly be anything other than blown away by this album! AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!
