This is an overrated "classic," in my opinion. It's a good slab of metal, featuring some very classical riffs and intriguing songwriting, but perhaps I'm missing something here. At times the music just seems a little bit too lacklustre for death metal. It's Morbid Angel's slowest album, but I suppose the positive of this is that it has a groove aspect, and some of the slowness creates atmosphere. I think this album has been quite influencial to other bands, but in my opinion the music doesn't really stand alone as a classic.
