A brutal classic! Suffocation hadn't quite discovered their songwriting ability, but this album was incredibly brutal, with some very inventive riffs. The complexity is here, despite the poor production and the average vocals, which sound at times as if the vocalist is running out of energy. It's a welcome relief when Corpsegrinder does some guest vocals. The production is overall very bassy, which helps the brutality of the music to come through when the drummer lets fly with some of those blast beats. Double bass drumming is used to great effect. My advice is to buy this if you're already a "confirmed" Suffocation fan, but if you're just interested in having a listen to this band, I strongly recommend checking out their album, Pierced From Within, which is easily this band's peak.
