Within the first couple of minutes of c4am95's III, you may notice something missing, something usually considered important... vocals!! By foregoing the idea that the human voice is meant to be used as a musical instrument, The Fucking Champs swiftly dodge the primary pitfall of 90% of metal bands today-suck ass vocals. They concentrate instead on incredible songwriting and something else that most other metal bands have foregone; memorable riffs. Ahhh, the riff. Remember the riff, kids? Remember tasteful harmonies? This album has memorable riffs and tasteful harmonies barfing straight out of the mouth. Not to mention (gasp)...creativity!! Spliced within the albums 23 tracks are intriguing tidbits of some seriously suave electronic doodling. If you've ever been able to appreciate the Metal-ness of old video game music (especially Mega Man 2, Contra, and Metal Gear), then The Champs will surely offer techno that should delight rather than disgust. Oh, and did I mention they don't have bass either? But you won't miss it, because the guitar sound is beefy enough to barbecue. Yee haw. If you're looking for a breath of fresh air in music, you simply can't go wrong with tracks like "Andres Segovia Interests Me", "The Tennis Book", "The Trees" (no relation to the Rush song), "Tonight, We Ride", and all the rest of the gang. I promise, you won't miss that $12. Like Ben Franklin said, a penny saved is a penny earned!!!!! 10/10 BABY!!!!!!!
The Fucking Champs - III 10/10
